2012 Legislative Agenda Released 1/7/12
Welcome to our 2012 Legislative Agenda. Highlighted by the Consumer Protection principals that have guided us since the early '90s, we are pleased to present to you the following ideas. Designed to bring Consumer Protection to the industry, these ideas are usable and applicable in every state where Rx Cannabis is sold.
The Ideas have been developed after years of frustration with state and local governments to effectively regulate the industry. For example, in California it states that all items sold in "weight" amounts, must have certain scales and those scales must be calibrated by the state regularly. Well, in the RX Cannabis industry, this doesn't happen, does it? As a result, consumers are ripped off, often by as much as 15% of their total purchase. Not only does this hurt consumers, but it puts extra profits into the hands of people who are skirting the law on several fronts - from labeling and packaging to paying taxes.
The 2012 agenda was put together with much though and care. Additionally one thought has been 'tossed in' that should be recognized - each concept has been created with the belief that 'if you provide consumer protection, your business will not be attacked, threatened or closed by government . After all, if you provide consumer protection, your product (industry) will not be outlawed - it may be regulated! Isn't it better to be regulated than outlawed, especially when you are in business to do good for the public?
The Ideas are:
1) The Rx Cannabis Users Bill Of Rights
2) Labeling of Rx Cannabis Products
3) Defining the term "Organic" as used by this industry
4) Rx Cannabis Crop Standards
5) Disposal of Rx Cannabis Products
6) Rx Cannabis Education
7) Rx Cannabis Packaging
8) The Theft of Rx Cannabis Product(s)
